Ghana inflation falls to 9.52% in June

Ghana’s inflation for the month of June has hit 9.52%, the Ghana Statistical Service has announced.

This is the 12th consecutive time that the country’s inflation has dropped. Inflation for the month of May stood at 10.68% fueling expectations that the Bank of Ghana will cut its policy rate further down from the current 15%. The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the central bank has been meeting since Monday this week to review the economy and to determine a new policy rate to be announced at a press conference on Friday in Accra.

Accra bourse loses heavily again

Accra, July 13, GNA - The GSE All-Share Index slumped heavily again on Tuesday at 134.78 points due to price losses by some major equities. The Index, which opened the week trading dull with similar huge loss at 108.23 points on Monday, therefore plunged from 6,413.78 points to 6,279.00 points on Tuesday.

Black Stars In Action Aug 11

HE SENIOR national team, the Black Stars will play their first match after their quarterfinal 2010 World Cup exit, hopefully on August 11, which is a FIFA date for friendly matches for national teams.

Lawyer Kwesi Nyantakyi, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, making the announcement on Metro TV, said Ghana’s opponent would be announced soon.

Ghana surge in Fifa ranking; move nine places

Ghana have moved nine places in the latest Fifa ranking released on Wednesday after an impressive World Cup campaign.
The Black Stars are now rated 23 in the World and second on the continent behind champions Egypt.
Ghana managed a quarter-final finish and were ranked 7th by Fifa in the World Cup rankings.
Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Algeria, Gabon and Cameroon follow in that order in the Africa ratings.

Obodai Signs For Houston Dynamo

HOUSTON, TX -- The Houston Dynamo signed midfielder Anthony Obodai on Tuesday, pending arrival of his International Transfer Certificate from the Netherlands. Obodai could be available to play in Thursday night’s SuperLiga opener against Pachuca. He will occupy an international roster slot. Per team and league policy, terms of the contract were not released.
