Steering Committee On Camps Activities Inaugurated

The Public Sector Reform yesterday inaugurated the national steering committee on Conference of African Ministers of Public /Civil Service (CAMPS) activities in Accra.

The Minister at the Presidency responsible for Public Sector,Honourable Alhassan Azong(MP),noted that the Public/Civil Service throughout the world is a critical factor in governance and national administration.

He said this Service must be essentially effective if government machinery must be seen to be on the high performance index to bring positive end results in policies and  programmes.

Honourable Alhassan Azong stated that Ministers of Africa responsible for the Public /Civil Service meet every two years in the CAMPS under the auspices of the African Union Secretariat to deliberate and address issues affecting public governance on the continent, to create capacity within the public administrations of individual member states.

“Ghana was elected 2nd Vice-Chair to the CAMPS and given the mandate to act as Co-Champion on three Thematic Areas out of ten”, he added.

He concluded that the Steering Committee is put in place to facilitate the identification of innovative mechanisms to fast track the implementation of activities aimed at building very capable developmental states in Africa.

The Minister inaugurated officially inaugurated the sixteen members which included State Enterprises Commission (Mr. David Djane),GPSS,GIMPA(Mr. Nanabanyin Pratt),Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry(Mr.Sal Doe Amegavie ) and Ministry of Information(Mrs. Josephine Carboo) among others.
