NDC Chairman sues party man 5billion cedis
News - Ghana News

National Democratic Congress A Former Greater Accra Regional Chairman of
the Ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) Danny Anang has dragged his
party’s Former Hamburg Chairman, Nii Ashie-Moore to court for alleged
defamation of character.

Mr. Anang is praying the court to slap a cost of Five Hundred Thousand
Ghana Cedis-that is Five Billion old Ghana cedis against Nii Ashie-Moore,
who was the Campaign Chairman for the current Greater Accra Regional
Chairman.

A Co-defendant, Ernest Frempong is also added to the writ. The Former
Greater Accra Regional NDC Chairman accuses the two men of sullying his
name with unsubstantiated allegations during the party’s Greater Accra
Regional elections which resulted in Mr. Kobina Ade Coker unseating Mr.
Anang as Regional Chairman.

The first hearing of the case is scheduled for Wednesday

But Nii Ashie-Moore has told Citi News he suspects Mr. Anang is hiding
under the alleged defamation to pursue a personal vendetta.

‘‘Why is he not taking Ade Coker, why is he not taking E.T. Mensah, Why is
he not taking Afotey-Abgo or Nana Agyemang Konadu Rawlings to court? He
once said on a sister station that he will deal with them. I am not the
Regional Chairman. I managed the campaign of the Regional Chairman and so
be it’’ he stated.

He alleged that Mr. Anang has been on his neck since 1998 but could not
explain what exactly he wants from him.

‘‘He has to go and fight the big fishes in the party. He claimed that
during the congress time he saw Afotey-Agbo and others distributing papers.
Why is he not also including them in the writ? I know for sure that it’s
something personal because we have finished campaigning and we are doing
government work so I don’t see the reason why he has to come back and say
he is taking his own party people to court and he is asking for five
billion cedis. If I have five billion cedis, I would have saved it for my
party for the coming election’’ he noted.

Nii Ashie-Moore and his co-defendant have written to the party’s National
Executive requesting that the matter be settled out of court using the
party conflict resolution structures.

Mr. Nii Ashie-Moore said interventions by the National Security
Coordinator Lt. Gbevlo Lartey towards solving the matter were disregarded
by Mr. Anang who is a member of one of the conflict resolution structures
in the party.

He added that even though he had lost three elections, he has lived with
the reality and urged Mr. Anang to do same rather than taking actions that
will ferment troubles within the rank and file of the party.
