NDC supporters in Wa jubilate over appointment

Written by Chive editor

Wa, July 7, GNA - Some supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Monday defiled a heavy down pour in Wa and poured onto the streets in jubilation over the appointment of Mr. Issahaque Salia as the Upper West Regional Minister.

When news about Mr. Salia's appointment filtered in, large numbers of supporters poured onto the streets on motorbikes and in cars tooting horns.

"President John Atta Mills has done us good by appointing Mr. Salia to head the region. President Mills and Mr. Salia had brought us rain. This is good luck for us and God had blessed the appointment in advance", they said.

"God has spoken, Mr. Salia is a good person and a tested politician and he is considered by many to be a unifier to the wrangling in the NDC in recent times," a member of the Regional Executives of the party said. Mr. Salia is a three-time Member of Parliament for Wa East.

The Upper West Region has been without a substantive Regional Minister for about two months following the dismissal of Mr. Mahmud Kalid.
