Nigeria’s Under-23 captain, Kingsley Udoh says Ghana used African charms ‘juju’ and amulets to defeat them in the All Africa games final qualifying match.

The Black Meteors defeated the Dream Team 2-0 on Sunday to qualify for the tournament to be played in Maputo in September.

Holding a 3-1 first led advantage into the weekend’s cracker in Kumasi , the Nigerians crashed out of the race because Ghana won 2-0.

Udoh has alleged that African charms (juju) were discovered in their dressing room, prior to the game in Kumasi on Sunday.

Udoh told reporters that the team did not use the dressing room following the discovery of the charms.

Women vie for GFA position

hree persons are to vie for a sole slot for a place on the Executive Committee of the Ghana Football Association, (GFA) which has been reserved for Women Football.

The trio, Leanier Addy, Habiba Atta and Sylvester Mensah will battle each other in search of the single slot, which remains a novelty by the Association on Wednesday, July 13 at the Conference Room of the GFA.

According to Emmanuel Gyimah, Acting General Secretary of the GFA, the Association decided to pitch the trio’s strength against each other after the Regional Football Associations elected Mr Mensah and Madam Attah to compete for the slot.

GHALCA ban “nonsensical”

The Ghana League Club Association has slammed a 10,000 Ghana cedis fine on Kumasi Asante Kotoko.

The Association also handed a one year ban from all GHALCA sanctioned games to the Porcupine Warriors for boycotting the medal ceremony of the President’s Cup on

July 1.

Kotoko players walked-off the pitch and did not receive their medals in protest over what they claim were dodgy referring decisions during the penalty shoot-out against Berekum Chelsea in the President’s Cup.

Ghana drawn with Cameroon for All African Games

Ghana’s Olympic team have drawn defending champions Cameroon at this year’s All Africa Games finals in Maputo, Mozambique. The national Under-23 side have been offered an opportunity to revenge the 1-0 defeat to Cameroon at the last edition in Algiers four years ago.

The Black Meteors will also play Uganda and Senegal in Group B for the multi-sport Games which runs from 3-11 September. Ghana secured qualification to the Games last Sunday on the away goal rule after beating Nigeria’s Dream Team V 2-0 in Kumasi to offset a 3-1 first leg defeat.

The Black Meteors finished at the foot of the Group A table at the last edition held in Algiers, Algeria in 2007. Hosts Mozambique will face South Africa, Libya and Madagascar in Group A.

The draw was conducted at the CAF headquarters on Tuesday afternoon by CAF General Secretary Hicham El Amrani. The draw was attended by CAF president Issa Hayatou and representatives of qualified teams.

Asamoah seals Cecafa Cup

An extra-time goal by Ghanaian, Kenneth Asamoah has sealed a Cecafa Kagame Cup success for Tanzania side, Yanga.

The Ghanaian came off the bench to get the winner on 109 minutes as Yanga beat archrivals Simba SC 1-0 in the final on Sunday.

Asamoah’s goal sparked off wild celebrations among Yanga’s fans at the National Stadium as they sealed their fourth win in the regional tourney.

There was another another Ghanaian on the winning side, as goalkeeper Yaw Berko played in goal for Yanga.

Accra, March 7, GNA - The Ghana Amateur Boxing Federation (GABF) will stage an Inter-Club Championship in the Greater Accra Region as part of efforts to unearth talents for the national team. The Championship, fixed for March 8-12, will be held at the Sports Hall of the Ohene-Djan Sports Stadium in Accra.

Mr Dominic Kankam, acting General Secretary of GABF told the Ghana News Agency Sports that the Championship was the first in the series of regional tours planned by the Federation for talent identification. He said it would also serve as a platform for boxers in the region to assess themselves and to hone their boxing skills ahead of the National Sports Festival and other major international tournaments.

The event dubbed: 93Independence Cup" is also in commemoration of Gh= ana's 54th Independence Anniversary under the sponsorship of Global Voice Group and Voltic Mineral Water. Mr Kankam said there would be attractive prizes for outstanding performers and urged participants to put in their best.
